Biography

Victor Von Doom was born to a Romani family in the small European nation of Latveria. His mother, Cynthia, was a witch who made a bargain with the demon Mephisto and was killed for it. His father, Werner, was a healer who died fleeing Latveria's cruel baron. Orphaned and driven by rage, young Victor taught himself both science and sorcery, becoming a prodigy in both.

A scholarship brought him to Empire State University, where he met Reed Richards — the only person he considered an intellectual equal, and therefore his greatest rival. An experiment to contact his mother's spirit exploded, scarring Victor's face. Blaming Richards for the failure, Doom was expelled and traveled to Tibet, where monks forged his iconic suit of armor. He returned to Latveria, overthrew its dictator, and declared himself absolute monarch.

As Doctor Doom, Victor commands an army of robotic Doombots, wields both advanced technology and dark sorcery, and rules Latveria with an iron fist. He has stolen the Power Cosmic from the Silver Surfer, seized the Beyonder's godlike abilities, wielded the Infinity Gauntlet, and reshaped all of reality as God Emperor Doom. Despite being one of Marvel's greatest villains, Doom genuinely believes he is the only person capable of saving humanity — and some storylines suggest he might be right.
